Networking

From my experience, a couple of tips regarding successful networking are:
– Get Out There: participate and get involved in as many different associations, conferences, events, etc related to the industry of interest as one is able to manage;
– Clarity: have a clear sense of purpose and goals even it is simply being open to whomever you might meet or what will happen without expectations;
– Open Learning: being open to and curious about the people you meet;
– Search and Assess: identify what is important to others looking for common interests and goals to collaborate on
– Work contacts: commit and act on commitment to follow up with people and where there are common points of interest and/or goals, and jointly come up with a clear action item or plan to work on together.
